59 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when the beef task force implementation group will finalise and agree the market price transparency model relating to returns from the beef market; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17664/00]
The beef task force monitoring committee is actively pursuing implementation of the recommendation made by the task force in relation to the introduction of price transparency in the beef sector.
I understand the monitoring committee, under the aegis of Bord Bia, has made good progress particularly on the price reporting model, but has not yet secured agreement on independent verification of the prices to be reported by the meat factories.
Discussion is ongoing between the main parties and I have no doubt that every effort will be made by the monitoring committee to bring this issue to a successful conclusion within the shortest possible time.
