Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Maternity Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

639 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans he has to provide ante-natal classes for expectant mothers in Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20473/00]

The provision of ante-natal care is a matter in the first instance for the health board. All expectant mothers regardless of means are entitled to receive free combined care from both the general practitioner and hospital obstetrician under the maternity and infant care scheme. As regards plans for the provision of ante-natal classes, I have asked the South Eastern Health Board to respond directly to the Deputy.
