Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Question:

702 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will approve funding for the Castlerea sewerage scheme in County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20362/00]

Stage 1 of this scheme is included in my Department's water and sewerage services investment programme, 2000-02 to commence construction in 2002. The submission of contract documents by Roscommon County Council is awaited.

Liam Aylward

Question:

703 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans he has to increase the rate of grant under the group sewerage scheme comparable to the increase made in the group water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20396/00]

The level of grant assistance for group sewerage schemes is being examined by the national rural water monitoring committee, which advises my Department in relation to rural water policy, and I will carefully consider any recommendations that may emanate from that examination.
