840 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the recruitment procedures in place for all positions in the National Library of Ireland; if she has satisfied herself that these procedures are open, transparent and accountable; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The recruitment procedures for the appointment of professional, technical and general service grades to the National Library of Ireland is carried out through the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commission. The appointment of certain other grades is carried out by my Department through FÁS and publicly advertised competitions. I am satisfied that the procedures followed in relation to the recruitment of all staff to the National Library are open, transparent and accountable.
