Bernard Allen

Question:

857 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will set up a central coroner service agency. [19228/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 856 and 857 together.

In December 1998, the Government approved my proposals to establish a working group to undertake a comprehensive review of the coroner service. I understand the group has recently finalised its deliberations and I expect to have its final report over the next few weeks.

I understand the group has carried out a detailed examination of all aspects of the service, including revised structural arrangements.

This report will, on its receipt, be examined by Government as quickly as possible.
