Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Residency Permits.

John McGuinness

Question:

906 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress in relation to an application for naturalisation by a person (details supplied); and if the period of time taken to deal with such applications from the medical profession can be fast tracked to accommodate the person (details supplied) in view of the medical personnel needs. [19921/00]

The application for naturalisation referred to by the Deputy is currently under consideration in my Department. Applications for citizenship are dealt with in chronological order as this method is deemed to be the fairest to all applicants. However, I expect that I will be in a position to advise both the applicant and the Deputy of my decision in this case shortly.
