940 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of arrests for drug offences in the Kildare-Carlow district; the number of convictions in relation to these; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20587/00]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue):

I am informed by the Garda authorities that from 1 January 2000 to date there have been 732 arrests and 97 convictions for drug offences in the Carlow-Kildare division.
