Question:

994 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the current situation regarding the provision of a new primary school (details supplied) in County Cork. [19460/00]

An application from the board of management of the school referred to by the Deputy for a replacement school building has been received in the planning and building unit of my Department. This application is being examined at present to determine the school's long-term requirements, having regard to all relevant factors, such as housing developments, population trends, availability of other schools in the area.

As soon as the examination is completed my Department will contact the school authorities in the matter.
