Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

995 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the amount of money paid per annum for routine repairs to a school (details supplied) in County Cork. [19461/00]

The school in question benefits under the terms of a grant scheme for minor works to national school properties that came into operation in January 1997. The annual grant was increased in January this year from £2,000 plus £9 per pupil to £3,000 plus £10 per pupil on rolls on the 30 September of the year prior to the issue of the grant. The funds transferred to schools must be spent on the physical infrastructure of the school or on items of furniture and equipment for educational use. The school received £3,880 this year.
