Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Child Assessment.

Jim Higgins

Question:

1016 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will arrange for an assessment of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who has been deemed as a slow learner. [19812/00]

Responsibility for assessment services for children of primary school age in the area in question currently rests with the relevant health board, through the director of community care. I have noted the concerns raised by the Deputy and I will arrange to have this matter brought to the attention of the relevant authorities so that appropriate arrangements can be made to address the child's needs as a matter of priority.
