Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Child Assessment.

John McGuinness

Question:

1029 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will arrange an independent assessment of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, who is moderate Down's syndrome, to determine her educational needs and the school she should attend; the support that is available to the person and her parents; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19944/00]

I have asked my Department's inspectorate to investigate the case raised by the Deputy with a view to determining the child's needs and ensuring that any necessary support services are made available.
