1032 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application from Piltown National School, County Kilkenny, for a resource teacher; and, if so, if he will expedite the application in view of the fact that one of the pupils is profoundly deaf. [19948/00]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):

I am aware of the application to which the Deputy refers. My Department's inspectorate has been requested to investigate and report on the resource teacher needs of the school in question as soon as possible. On receipt of the inspec tor's report, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities on the matter.
