198 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of work permits which have been granted under the new scheme announced in March 2000 for people in certain categories of employment; the nationalities of those who have been granted visas; the number of applications which were actually received; the number of visas which were refused; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20131/00]

The working visa scheme became operational during May 2000. The tables below present the latest available data, providing details regarding working visas and work authorisations issued up until the end of August 2000. There is no data available in relation to refusals.
