Vol. 523 No. 1

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Question:

213 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the working group on the community employment scheme has been established; when it is expected that the group will report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20356/00]

I expect that the current discussions between my Department and the Department of Education and Science concerning the proposed mainstreaming of schools services now being provided through the community employment, CE, scheme will be concluded very shortly. The outcome of these discussions will then be discussed with the social partners through the PPF standing committee on the labour market, as required under the PPF commitment relating to the review of CE essential services.

Similar discussions are also ongoing with the Department of Health and Children in regard to the potential for mainstreaming personal assistance services provided under CE, the outcome of which will also be discussed with the social partners through the standing committee on the labour market.

Question No. 214 taken with Question No. 173.
