Question:

118 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if a site has been selected for the location of an interpretative centre at the proposed national park in north Mayo; and, if so, the details in this regard. [20912/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 117 and 118 together.

Recently another site for the proposed visitor centre was offered by an agent on behalf of a landowner and its suitability is currently being assessed in conjunction with the other sites already selected for consideration. Negotiations will be finalised as soon as possible and the purchase of a suitable site will proceed. This will be followed by the design of the visitors' centre in consultation with local interest and the seeking of planning.
