Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

143 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a registration of a folio in the Land Registry office will be completed for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo as the delay is causing financial hardship. [20936/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a Section 49 application, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 20 July, 1997. The reference number is D1997SM003698P.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process and that consequently is not possible to estimate a precise completion date for the application concerned at this stage.

I am further informed that queries have issued to the lodging solicitor on 6 July 2000 and that the dealing cannot progress until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved. I can assure the Deputy that on receipt of a satisfactory response to the queries, the application will receive attention.
