Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - Unlawful Killings.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

153 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the total number of unlawful killings which have taken place since the end of June 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21011/00]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of unlawful killings recorded since the first of June 2000 to date is seven, all of which are currently being treated as murders. Three of the seven murders are detected, and proceedings have commenced in all three cases. I should state that these statistics are provisional, and are subject to change.

Question No. 154 taken with Question No. 39.
