Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Michael Bell

Question:

155 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason for the delay in the granting of a holiday visa to a person (details supplied) in Turkey; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21016/00]

The visa application in question was referred to my Department from the Department of Foreign Affairs on 15 September 2000 and approved on 3 October 2000. This was within my Department's normal processing time for an application of this type. However, I understand that as a result of communication difficulties between the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin and the Irish Consulate in Istanbul, there may have been some delay in forwarding the application to my Department.
