Question:

80 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is being excluded from the new five year plan under special measure A. [20922/00]

The person named submitted an application for a new five year contract to include supplementary measure A after the anniversary date of the original plan, 1 November 1999. Under the terms and conditions of the scheme, a new five year contract can only be awarded when the new plan is submitted prior to the anniversary date. The person named was informed in writing of this condition on 12 June 2000.

The person named may apply for a new five year contract for SMA by submitting a new agri-environmental plan to the local farm development office before 1 November 2000.

81 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a decision will be made on a REPS application by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [20923/00]

Question:

82 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a decision will issue on a REPS application for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [20924/00]

The application from the person named has been considered in my Department. The applicant was advised in August that his application could not be accepted. It included part of a commonage share which the applicant had split with his brother. My Department formed the opinion that two farming units had been created for the purpose of maximising or drawing down payments under REPS. This is specifically excluded under the terms and conditions of the scheme.

The person named has been advised that it is open to him to submit a joint application with his brother for further consideration. For such an application to be processed it would also be necessary for the person named to rectify certain deficiencies in his lease. My Department has explained to him what these deficiencies are and the matter now rests with the applicant.

Question:

83 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received a 2000 sheep headage payment; and if he will identify the exact problem with the application. [20996/00]

The 2000 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed and any payments due will issue shortly.

Dan Neville
