Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

David Stanton

Question:

87 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Finance the percentage and amount of lottery funding allocated to sport and recreational facilities and activities during each of the years 1998 and 1999; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21013/00]

While responsibility for sport rests with the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, I have overall responsibility for the national lottery. For presentation purposes it has been the practice to show youth, sport, recreation and amenities together as there is a certain degree of overlap between them.

Lottery-funded expenditure on youth, sport, recreation and amenities during the past two years was as follows: 1998, £37.219 million, 33% of lottery funding and 1999, £38.232 million, 33% of lottery funding.
