Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - River Drainage.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

88 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Finance if the two reports on the environmental impact study and cost benefit analysis are completed in relation to a river (details supplied) in County Galway; and if approval will be given for the drainage to go ahead. [21021/00]

The cost benefit analysis on drainage of the River Nanny has now been received by the Commissioners of Public Works and is being analysed by them. The environmental impact study, however, is not expected to be completed until the end of October 2000. When that has been received and its contents examined, the commissioners will then be in a position to decide whether or not drainage works on the Nanny will be undertaken.
