Vol. 523 No. 3

Written Answers. - Private Rented Accommodation.

Billy Timmins

Question:

103 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans he has to introduce legislation to implement the measures and recommendations outlined in the report on the private rented residential sector which was published in July 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20985/00]

I intend to bring proposals to Government shortly together with a programme for implementation arising from the report of the commission on the private rented residential sector. Many of the commission's recommendations have implications for the landlord and tenant legislative code and the tax code which are the responsibility of my colleagues the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy O'Donoghue, and the Minister for Finance, Deputy McCreevy, respectively. Consultations are under way in relation to these issues.
