Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sexual Assault Units.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

122 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that the Southern Health Board will establish a sexual assault treatment unit in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21257/00]

The provision of services in County Kerry is the statutory responsibility of the Southern Health Board.

I understand that the Southern Health Board is currently having discussions with a view to establishing a sexual assault unit in Cork and that when this is established consideration will then be given to the need for a similar unit in Kerry.
