Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Community Support Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

139 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a social worker has not maintained regular contact with the parents of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who requires immediate proper assessment and support by the South Eastern Health Board; and if he will insist on immediate action in the case in view of the outstanding matters which have to be dealt with and the areas or projects within the South Eastern Health Board area where money was spent in 2000 in relation to autism. [21397/00]

As it would not be appropriate to provide the Deputy with a response in this matter in the context of a parliamentary question, I have prepared a separate reply which will be forwarded to the Deputy.

With regard to the information sought by the Deputy concerning the development of services to persons with autism in the South Eastern Health Board region, I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to furnish the Deputy with a detailed report on the matter.
