Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Connaughton – the future of the Bon Secours Hospital, Tuam, County Galway; (2) Deputy Ellis – the future status and development of Sligo Borough; (3) Deputy Enright – the number of people on the live register at Birr employment exchange and the need to appoint a special task force to provide essential jobs in the area; (4) Deputy Broughan – the urgent need to provide a training premises for Glin Boxing Club, Coolock, Dublin 17; (5) Deputy Creed – the urgent necessity for a legal framework at national and EU levels to regulate the bio-engineering industry in view of the birth of Adam Nash in America; (6) Deputy Dukes – the serious income losses for hill sheep farmers as a result of the replacement of headage payments by area based payments; (7) Deputy Ring – the urgent need to provide a new five classroom building for St. Anthony's special school, Castlebar, County Mayo; (8) Deputy Gay Mitchell – the delays of up to three years in having the occupational therapy unit of the Eastern Regional Health Authority assess the needs of disabled and elderly people; (9) Deputy Michael Kitt – the decision to close the Bon Secours Hospital in Tuam and the implications for health services and employment in the region; (10) Deputy Olivia Mitchell – the need for additional taxis in the Dublin area following the most recent fatal attack on another young Dubliner; (11) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the need to immediately increase the free fuel allowance payment due to the increase in fuel costs; (12) Deputy Timmins – the provision of speech and language therapy to a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow; (13) Deputy Jim Higgins – the withdrawal of physiotherapy and speech therapy facilities at St. Anthony's special school, Castlebar, County Mayo; (14) Deputy Kenny – the provision of new school accommodation at St. Anthony's special school, Castlebar, County Mayo; (15) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny)– the need for Carlow to have its own full-time solicitor for the legal aid centre; (16) Deputy Killeen – the staffing crisis in the customs national drugs team investigation bureau and Revenue mobile service; (17) Deputy Upton – the urgent need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to review the controls in place to prevent the entry of specified risk materials into the human food chain and the consequent increased risk of CJD; (18) Deputy Hogan – the failure of the Minister for Health and Children to arrange the necessary places in hospitals for children requiring heart operations; (19) Deputy Shatter – the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to outline the steps being taken to make the streets of Dublin safe following recent tragic deaths; (20) Deputy Breeda Moynihan-Cronin – the need to review the level of the third level grant in light of inflation and to address the barriers to third level for low income students as highlighted by the report by the Higher Education Authority; (21) Deputy O'Sullivan – the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to take steps to ensure that pay and conditions for women at work are the same as for their male counterparts; and (22) Deputy Penrose – the urgent need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to outline his plans for the future of agricultural colleges in Multifarnham, Warrenstown, Gurteen and Rockwell in light of the recent Kennedy report commissioned by Teagasc.

The matters raised by the Deputies Breeda Moynihan-Cronin, Creed, Olivia Mitchell and Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) have been selected for discussion.
