Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Land Designation.

Michael Ring

Question:

188 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when a Dúchas official will inspect the lands of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo, as promised on 5 July 2000, to finalise his appeal on the designation of his lands. [21049/00]

The person named appealed against the designation of his lands. The appeal was not granted on internal review by Dúchas. He decided to have his appeal referred to the SAC appeals advisory board. The board has conveyed its recommendation to me and I will be advising the landowner of my decision within the next week. As the board operates independently of Dúchas, I am unable to confirm if any commitment was made by the board to visit the landowner in question.
