Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Child Abuse.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

208 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps he will take following the publication of the Law Reform Commission's consultation paper on the law of limitation of actions arising from non-sexual abuse of children. [21311/00]

The Deputy is aware that I have stated on many occasions in the Oireachtas that I will respond promptly and proactively to the recommendations of the Law Reform Commission on this issue when they become available.

It would be premature to take any steps based on a consultation paper, which clearly states that its recommendations are tentative and provisional and on which the views of interested parties have been sought, before the commission has presented its final report on the issue to the Attorney General.
