Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John McGuinness

Question:

210 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reasons for the delay in processing an application from a person (details supplied) in County Carlow to allow him status within the country while he is dealing with a personal injury claim through the courts; if he will arrange an interview with the applicant who has had no reply from the Department in two years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21314/00]

There is no particular provision in Irish immigration law which entitles a non-EEA national to remain in the State and receive public funds pending the determination of civil proceedings commenced by him or her. I am reviewing the circumstances of this case carefully and a letter will issue to the person concerned in the very near future.
