Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

270 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of educational psychologists working in counties Monaghan and Cavan; the formal links in place with the North Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21368/00]

Currently, there are two national educational psychological service – NEPS – psychologists working under the direction of a senior psychologist in counties Cavan and Monaghan. A third psychologist is in the process of taking up an appointment in the area.

NEPS liaises with the North Eastern Health Board community care and psychiatric services in relation to particular cases. The management committee of NEPS has also established a liaison group to streamline links between NEPS and health boards generally.
Question No. 271 taken with Question No. 253.
