Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

272 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will agree to the provision of an additional room for parents' and related usage in the plans for the provision of the permanent school building for the Lucan Educate Together School in the context of the general recognition of the increasing role of parents, the nature of this multi-denominational and multi-cultural school and having regard to the parents of the autistic children who will be integrated into the school on a two classroom allocation. [21398/00]

The ancillary accommodation brief for Lucan Educate Together National School includes the following: one general purpose room and servery; one library/resource area; one multi-purpose room; one administration/general office; and one special tuition room.

This accommodation brief was drawn up under recently revised planning guidelines for primary schools.

Accommodation for an autistic unit is also being provided and this includes two full-size classrooms, a dedicated general purpose room, a relaxation room and a parents' room/office.
