Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

277 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has had discussions with the parish authorities with regard to the provision of a primary school (details supplied) in County Meath; if a site has been identified; and, if not, when his Department will commence with this badly needed facility. [21445/00]

A review of primary school accommodation needs in the general area referred to by the Deputy has been carried out by my Department. As a result of this review, a need has been identified for a new primary school to meet the demand for school places arising from the growth in population due to significant housing development in the area.

Arrangements are now being made in relation to the patronship of the proposed school. When this issue has been finalised, the question of acquiring a suitable site will be addressed.
