71 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Defence if the millennium medal will be presented to a person (details supplied) in Bedfordshire; the position regarding the medals in view of correspondence from a person (details supplied) stating that the project was cancelled and the fact that the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen and Women members were presented with medals. A proposal to award a "Millennium Medal" to all serving members of the Defence Forces was suggested towards the end of 1999. The proposal was not proceeded with and no such award exists.

I am advised that members of the Organisation of National Ex-Servicemen and Women have not been presented with a "Millennium Medal".
