Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Installation Aid Scheme.

Michael Creed

Question:

86 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a person intent on transferring his farm to a beneficiary who has completed the 180 hour green certificate course is entitled to installation aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21209/00]

One of the conditions of the scheme of installation aid is that eligible persons must possess adequate skill and competence. In the case of the current national scheme, applicants born on or after 1 January 1968 must have obtained the Teagasc certificate in farming or an equivalent qualification. Applicants who were born before 1 January 1968 must have a minimum of three years experience in farming and have completed approved courses of training in farming of at least 150 hours to meet the skill and competence criteria.

Under the proposed installation aid scheme to be introduced under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, the skill and competence criteria will be similar although the relevant dates may change.

Applicants must meet all the other terms and conditions of the scheme to qualify for installation aid.
