Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Willie Penrose

Question:

100 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance when he will give approval for the construction of a new Garda station at Ballymore, County Westmeath; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the proposals for this construction have been received by the Office of Public Works; if he will now give final approval in view of this and in view of the poor condition of the existing station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21213/00]

The Commissioners of Public Works have been approached by a number of parties interested in acquiring the surplus area of the Garda station site in Ballymore.

The commissioners will shortly invite proposals from developers for the provision of a new Garda station on part of the site. The invitation will be on the basis that the successful developer will retain the remaining area.
