Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Dan Neville

Question:

116 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people in each health board area who are awaiting an appointment with a consultant psychiatrist; the number awaiting admission to psychiatric hospitals and psychiatric units in general hospitals; and the waiting times for each of these categories. [21181/00]

The information requested by the Deputy on the number of people awaiting an appointment with a consultant psychiatrist is not collated as a matter of routine by my Department. I am not aware of any waiting lists in existence for admission to psychiatric hospitals or psychiatric units in general hospitals. However, I have asked the chief executive officer of each health board to investigate the matters and will reply to the Deputy as soon as their replies come to hand.
