Vol. 523 No. 5

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

305 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will liaise with the Department of Health and Children with a view to dramatically improving the school orthodontic treatment programme, having particular regard to the totally unsatisfactory nature of the scheme to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21727/00]

My Department is not responsible for and does not operate the school orthodontic treatment programme. However if the Deputy wishes to put his concerns in connection with the scheme in writing to me, I will ensure that those concerns are communicated to my colleague, the Minister for Health and Children.
