Vol. 523 No. 5

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

313 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the extent of the current child psychology services available in north Kildare; the plans he has for the augmentation of this service to facilitate all the schools of the area at both primary and second levels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21735/00]

At present, all second level schools and approximately a quarter of all primary schools in County Kildare have access to the service of the national educational psychological service. As of 3 October 2000, 20 additional psychologists are in post, and more will be joining NEPS during the term. As soon as they have completed their induction programme, they will be deployed in schools. Some of them will be joining the team serving north County Kildare.
