161 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when an application for a work visa made on 5 November 1999 by a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be processed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21498/00]

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Ms Harney):

An application for a work permit in respect of the individual concerned was received by my Department on 7 October 1999. Further information on the appli cation was sought from the applicant by letter on 21 October 1999. To date no reply has been received by my Department to that letter.
