Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

206 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive full entitlement of a third year REP scheme; the way in which the rate paid was calculated, giving a detailed breakdown; and the way in which the balance due to the person will issue to allow for his special area of conservation and national heritage area designation. [22054/00]

An amended REPS plan was submitted by the person named and payment was made in accordance with the conditions of the scheme in force at the time the amended plan was lodged. In this case the level of payment approved under the amended plan is correct. This plan contains target area land. Under the previous scheme specification where any part of a holding was in a target area an enhanced level of payment was applied across the entire holding. Where plans containing target area land require amendment or revision post 1 June 1999 an enhanced level of payment is made on the target area only, at the rates applicable to the original plan.

The payment which issued to the person named was calculated as follows: 27.65 hectares @ 151 euro per hectare = IR£3,288.20; 7.83 hectares @ 36 euro per hectare = IR£222.

Payment in the sum of IR£3,510.20 issued on 4 October 2000.
