Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers' Scheme.

Michael Noonan

Question:

124 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to an appli cation by the cardiomyopathy support group for the extension to its members of certain tax concessions available to other disabled persons; if the interdepartmental review group has as yet made a recommendation to his Department on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22552/00]

I have been informed that the cardiomyopathy support group made a written and an oral submission to the interdepartmental group set up to review the disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' – tax concessions – scheme. The oral submission was heard on 29 September 2000. The review group, which is chaired by an official from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, is considering the points raised by this and by other groups who seek extension of the tax concessions.
