Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - Seafood Processing Business.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

59 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources his response to the concerns of a company (details supplied) in County Waterford regarding the expansion of the seafood processing business; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22432/00]

I understand that the Deputy is referring to the former net storage compounds at Dunmore East, which has now been let to a local fish processing company to facilitate its expansion.

I am advised that in recent years the area in question was, for the most part, a dump for redundant fishing gear. Net storage requirements at the harbour are nevertheless, being analysed in the context of the consultancy study of infrastructural needs at the harbour currently under way for my Department. This study is scheduled to be completed later this year.
