Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

110 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has plans to meet the Retired Aviation Staff Association in view of the fact that its members have been losing out, since the 1989 break, on the index-linked pensions related to salaries of current employees of Aer Lingus or Aer Rianta. [22425/00]

A meeting between myself and representatives of the Retired Aviation Staff Association took place on 10 October 2000 in relation to their campaign for enhanced pension benefits. At that meeting, I undertook to raise the concerns of the association with the chairmen of Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta. I also undertook on behalf of the association to clarify some issues with my colleague the Minister for Finance on receipt of some additional information from the association which is awaited.

My replies to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 315 and 316 dated 3 October 2000 give a full account of the current position.
