Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Private Hospitals.

Dan Neville

Question:

273 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children the current position with regard to his decision to establish a private hospital by the Bon Secours health system adjacent to the Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, County Limerick. [22892/00]

The Bon Secours health system have advised the Mid-Western Health Board that the significant escalation in the capital cost of the proposed private hospital development has required the Bon Secours to reassess its financing arrangements for the new hospital.

I understand from the Mid-Western Health Board that the matter is under active consideration by the Bon Secours but that a final decision may not be available under January 2001.
