Question:

295 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a submission for approval for a package of posts including an additional radiologist as an essential support for developments taking place in other specialities in the Cork University Hospital, County Cork; and when a decision will be made on that submission. [23143/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 293, 294 and 295, inclusive, together.

The question of developing hospital support services, including radiology services within the Southern Health Board area is being discussed by the Southern Health board with my Department in the context of the Board's strategic plans for Cork University Hospital and the Board's priorities for developments in 2001. The matter of the appointment of a post of professor of clinical imaging is also being considered in this context.
