Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

319 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children if orthodontic treatment will be offered to persons (details supplied) in County Kildare who have been advised that treatment is required urgently; if so, when this treatment will be available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23168/00]

As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in County Kildare is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority, I have asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to these cases and to reply to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

John Perry

Question:

320 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 646 of 3 October 2000 he will ensure that his Department contacts the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board regarding orthodontic treatment for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23169/00]

As the address given for the individual concerned was in County Sligo, my Department initially referred the Deputy's question to the North Western Health Board for direct reply to him. However, the North Western Health Board advised that the question should have been referred to the Western Health Board and my officials have now written to the chief executive officer of that board asking her to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
