Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Michael Noonan

Question:

367 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the esti mated annual cost of providing a £300 bonus voucher for all drivers under 30 years of age who pass the driving test; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23314/00]

As some 58,000 persons under the age of 30 passed their driving test in the 12 months to end September 2000, such a scheme would cost some £17.4 million annually. I have no proposals to introduce such a scheme.
