Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Commencement of Legislation.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

416 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the Acts and provisions of Acts for the commencement of which an order or decision of the Government is required which have not been commenced by reason of the fact that such an order or decision has not been made; the plans there are for the making of such an order or decision in each case; if so, when such an order or decision will be made; the reason for the failure in each case to make such an order or decision to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23042/00]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 831 of 3 October 2000 and my earlier reply to Parliamentary Question No. 44 on Wednesday, 25 November 1998, in which I outlined those parts and-or sections of the National Cultural Institutions Act, 1997, which have already been implemented.

It is my intention that Part II of the Act will be commenced in 2001. The remaining sections of the Act will be commenced as required and as appropriate.
