Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

441 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Land Registry to expedite a registration for persons (details supplied) in County Mayo as the delay is causing them great hardship and preventing a REPS application. [23053/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a section 49 application, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 and which is associated with a Land Commission vesting order.

I am further informed by the Land Registry that it is awaiting the lodgement of the land certificates for schedule 93165. I understand that the Department of Agriculture Food and Rural Development has contacted the solicitors, bank and registered owners regarding this matter, but has received no reply to date. Processing of the section 49 application cannot proceed without the lodgement of the land certificates.
