509 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the difficulty being experienced by the County Dublin VEC in securing the appointment of a classroom assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will consult with the VEC in order to modify or remove the restriction that has to date mitigated against the appointment of an assistant in order to ensure that the student gets a proper education. Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods):

In August this year my Department approved the allocation of a child care assistant post to meet the needs of the person in question. I have had inquiries made in the matter and I understand that County Dublin VEC has now filled the post.
