Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Needs Assistants.

John Perry

Question:

520 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have his application for a class assistant approved in view of the fact that he is in the mainstream school system and taking into consideration the length of time his application has been lodged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23211/00]

My Department's inspectorate is currently examining an application for special needs assistant support for the child in question. As soon as the inspectorate has reported, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities in relation to this matter.
